Ashley, I do agree that you are physically born male or female. However, I do think that society has changed and in turn our educational system needs to change as well. I do think that the number of people in the LGBTQ community is growing at a rapid speed. The question is are the actual number of those people growing or is awareness just making it easier for those people to truly come out and be themselves? I am not convinced that being transgender, gay, bi, or anything alike is something of choice. In fact many people hate themselves because they either feel the hate from other people or are afraid to get that hate from other people. For the last 100 years being gay has been viewed as bad and you were said to be "broken" or "inverted" back in the day if you were gay. Before the term gay even existed people were "gay" which means those feelings existed far before any definition or term for those feelings existed. Is it possible that transgender people finally have a definition, a group to which they can belong and relate to which they may not have had 10 years ago even though they were feeling the same feelings they are feeling now?
