You are transgender if if you are born inside of a male/female body and you have a brain of the opposite sex. (there are many biological differences between the two, look it up for more details). so yes, it is a birth defect and mental disorder. People don’t just transition when they feel like they need to. They transition if they have them entail disorder known as gender disphoria. depending on how severe it is, sufferers of the disorder will feel things such as nausea, headaches etc. whenever something is mentioned to of with them and their birth sex. sometimes the sufferers will also go into extreme cases of depression, and many have suicidal feelings/actions. So no, they don’t just transition when they feel like it, it’s a serious thing. Also it is irrelevant of how female or male they are, or what type of chromosomes they have, as long as they feel like the sex of their brain/consciousnesse.
